One of the major recognized publications on the
History of the Okaloosa
County School System was prepared by Mrs. Nancy M. Kenaston. The
publication is one of the main sources for information on the struggle to
educate Afro American children in the Okaloosa County Public Schools.
Mrs. Kenaston's book is entitled,
"From Cabin to Campus".

still living who have personal knowledge of both the pre-integration and
post-integration experience of working in or attending the Okaloosa County
Public Schools. Today, the
Okaloosa County
Public Schools is the number one rated school district in the state of
Florida.
